"And while I stood there I saw more than I can tell and I understood more than I saw; for I was seeing in a sacred manner the shapes of all things in the spirit, & the shape of all shapes as they must live together like one being." ~ Black Elk, Medicine Man of the Oglala Sioux
This photo is a dream come true. The Milky Way Galaxy was spiraling around the North Star above my friend's Native American Church ceremony. Every day we are spinning on the axis of this sacred planet we call Mother Earth, while orbiting the sun each year. This photo was created from a time-lapse by combining 200 long-exposure photographs into one image, generating the star trails effect. While creating this image, I learned Polaris (the North Star) is not perfectly North, but can easily be used for navigation. In this photo, you are able to determine the four directions, in which the tipi entrance is aimed towards the rising sun.
